Constructive Evaluations

The Science Teacher—February 2000

Action research is one of the fastest growing directions of staff development (Webb, 1996). This article describes how the author used the Constructivist Learning Environment Survey (CLES) (Taylor et al, 1997) to gather data in a reflective analysis of her teaching. The CLES is uniquely suited to this action research because it evaluates the degree to which a classroom environment is consistent with the constructivist perspective.
