This paper describes the results of incorporating technology in the histology laboratory by using high-resolution video-imaging equipment (VIE). The study sought to determine if (1) the VIE would allow students to more easily and rapidly find histological structures over more conventional methods, and (2) if they could find the structures with the aid of VIE after they were given a verbal description. The results of this study indicate that the VIE is an essential component in the histology laboratory. The use of this equipment has not only enabled students to locate histological structures more rapidly, but is conducive to enhancing student learning and creating a more active and interactive learning environment in the classroom.
