Despite your best efforts, are the majority of your middle school students unable to write detailed, complete lab reports? If your answer is a resounding “yes,” try implementing Model Analysis into your science curriculum. This strategy effectively engages students in analyzing and evaluating a sample lab report. Equipped with lab report guidelines, a scoring rubric, and a red pen, students were instructed to carefully read the report and assign an honest grade to each section. Students shared their reasoning with the rest of the class in a culminating discussion.
