In our students’ lifetimes, as many as a quarter of the plants, animals, and microorganisms on Earth may become extinct, primarily due to deforestation. . . As we introduce these concepts to our students, we should not only respond to crises but encourage the kind of ethical discussions that can form the basis for adult decisions in the years to come.
