Dear Colleagues, Partners and Staff,

In times of uncertainty, our purpose becomes even clearer. At NSTA, we have always stood as a beacon for science educators, students, and communities—championing the power of science to illuminate minds, transform lives, and shape the future. Today, that commitment remains as strong as ever.

Soon after President Trump assumed office, he issued an executive order aimed at eliminating federal diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, as well as pausing or canceling related funding. This executive order has significant and far-reaching implications for NSTA, potentially impacting various aspects of our work.

As an organization, we must carefully navigate these changes, balancing compliance with federal guidelines while remaining committed to our mission of transforming science education to benefit all. In light of this, NSTA is thoroughly reviewing all of our content to ensure it aligns with the current landscape and reflects the realities of today’s climate.

As an educator, advocate, and servant leader, I know firsthand the dedication, passion, and resilience needed to inspire the next generation of thinkers, problem solvers, and innovators. I also understand the challenges we face—shifting landscapes, evolving expectations, and the ever-present need to adapt. Yet, through it all, one thing remains constant: the unwavering spirit of those who believe in the power of science education to change the world.

Now more than ever, we must stand firm in our mission—empowering and supporting educators, elevating the teaching of science, and ensuring that all learners have access to meaningful, high-quality science experiences. This moment calls for us to be bold, to pivot when necessary, and to continue the vital work that has defined NSTA for more than 80 years.

We are not just an association; we are a movement—one driven by educators who refuse to let obstacles stand in the way of discovery and learning. We are here for you, and we will move forward together, stronger and more determined.

Thank you for the work you do, the lives you touch, and the passion you bring to this field. It is an honor to serve alongside you, and I remain deeply committed to advocating for you, our students, and the future of science education.

With gratitude and determination,
