In an apprenticeship-style course that mimics experiences in research laboratories and better reflects trends in educational reform, students perform team projects through collaboration with corporate research institutions. This research-based, student-centered, and cross disciplinary course structure represents typical steps encountered by scientists as students identify, develop, and fund a project then conduct experiments and report results.
