Journal of College Science Teaching—March/April 2003

Undergraduate elementary education majors participate in an interdisciplinary course focused on modeling scientific systems. Students’ applications of three artificial intelligence concepts used in modeling scientific systems were investigated before and after the course, revealing a great increase in understanding of concepts presented, but inconsistent application. The course incorporated laboratory, computer modeling of scientific systems, and cooperative groups.
