Three years ago, the National Center for Case Study Teaching in Science (NCCSTS) was inspired to merge the case study and flipped classroom approaches. The resulting
project aimed to create the materials required to teach a flipped course in introductory biology by assigning videos as homework and case studies in the classroom.
The National Science Foundation funded the project, and three cohorts of instructors were trained to produce flipped cases and their supporting videos. As this project
nears its completion, we wanted to share some of the information we provided to instructors in the 3-day video production workshop so that instructors motivated to create their own flipped videos have access to this information.
