The Case Study: Avogadro Goes to Court—The Price to Pay for Calculating the Cost of a Single Aluminum Atom

Journal of College Science Teaching—November 1999

This column provides original articles on innovations in case study teaching, assessment of the method, as well as case studies with teaching notes. In this month’s issue, the case study was inspired by a novel assignment that Pace University Professor Carroll Zahn gave to an introductory computer class. The result of this assignment was far different than anything that could have been predicted—a lawsuit was launched against Pace University. Teaching notes are included.
