Editor’s Roundtable: What students can learn in their own backyard

Science Scope—December 2008

Local resources and potential science education partners are underutilized, though many facilities, institutions, and professionals would gladly volunteer time and services to schools and teachers. This issue of Science Scope offers a collection of articles by teachers who have made connections with local universities and community organizations, and have formed partnerships that fill classroom needs and benefit their students. By using local resources and facilities, your students will develop a greater sense of their communities and see science all around them—right in their own backyards!
