First Day of School

Science Scope -- September 2004

Capture your students’ attention on the first day of school by breaking from the usual routine of reviewing class expectations, rules, and the course syllabus. Students will be captivated when you ask them to explain how a balloon was inflated inside a flask upon taking their seats. This activity really gets students excited about learning science and is a great way to foster thinking, hypothesizing, observing, questioning, and recording information.
