Students at Norwood School and more than 8,000 other schools on seven continents (including Antarctica) learn how scientific research works by participating in the GLOBE program (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment). Involving students in actual scientific research gives them the opportunity to see how science really works. Students practice measurement skills in a context that asks them to apply these skills meaningfully, and they develop a sense of accountability for the accuracy of their data. What better way to learn about the nature of science and its importance to our lives than by doing real-life science?
