Science and Children—November/December 2001

Design Technology: Children’s Engineering (Dunn and Larson 1990), is a learning model that allows children to experience developmentally appropriate, hands-on instructional methods that enable them to draw, plan, design, build, test, and improve their solutions by applying their knowledge to new and different situations. This article describes how this model was implemented to engage students in a week-long children’s engineering project that teaches kindergartners design technology.
