A New Way of Looking at the World

The Global 200 represents a new science-based approach to setting priorities for conservation. At its core is a simple concept: If we conserve the broadest variety of the world’s habitats, we can conserve the broadest variety of the world’s species, along with the ecological and evolutionary processes that maintain the web of life. The goal is to implement a global strategy to protect these areas and the biodiversity they harbor. It’s a blueprint for long-term conservation education and action on a planet-wide scale. This article includes lesson ideas and Internet resources to engage middle school students in World Wildlife projects.
