Diversity in most environments is critical to success. Science instruction with the implementation of robotics could provide girls with the needed impetus to consider fields in engineering and computer science, which are traditionally dominated by males. Robots offer the opportunity for creative expression, problem solving, constructivist learning, mathematics, and computer programming. This article describes various robotics-related activities that can be presented in the classroom to foster positive attitudes toward careers in robotics among girls while engaging students in minds-on, hands-on learning experiences.
