A dental hygiene forum was designed for middle level students in order to reinforce their knowledge of oral hygiene, broaden their understanding of oral anatomy, and teach them about common oral diseases. A variety of methods were used to capture and hold the students’ attention and several techniques were incorporated to measure the effectiveness of this presentation. In addition, the forum addressed the anatomy and physiology standard showing that body systems function because of contributions of individual parts and how a failure in any part (e.g., the teeth) can affect the entire system, even the entire organism.
