Beginning high school students may not have a firm foundation in the prerequisite skills to succeed in a laboratory-oriented science course, yet they are expected to develop these skills by the end of the course. This article features a series of activities designed to strengthen and build science laboratory and inquiry skills for students in physical science classes. Many of the activities are familiar to experienced teachers, but the choice and arrangement of the activities form an integrated, logical sequence that develops and strengthens students' knowledge. Eleven labs are featured.
