Museums, zoos, aquariums, parks, science centers, planetariums, the school yard, and countless other sites, have the potential to shape our thinking, nurture our spirits, and teach us lessons that may stay with us forever. This article addresses the question posed to all educators: What role do these informal environments play in the world of school science instruction?
