August 15    National Honey Bee Day

Families can celebrate from the comfort of their own home by working together on a free activity toolkit brought to you by the Bayer Feed a Bee initiative, which contains fun and simple DIY activities to recognize pollinators and all they do to support our food system. Projects range from whipping up a pollinator-inspired dish to creating seed balls that will grow into bee-friendly flowers for your garden.  

August 26    Green Teacher Webinar: Using a School-Community Partnership to Cut Greenhouse Gases  

Dan Hendry, who has collaborated with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities to create a guide for using city-school partnership to inspire youth to choose sustainable transportation, will lead this webinar at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Hendry will explain how to forge and maintain community partnerships. 

Deadline August 31        Pitsco Education Grants 

Pitsco Education offers a $350 monthly grant to help make hands-on learning possible. This grant is awarded as a gift certificate that may be used to purchase hands-on STEM products, curriculum, and more from Pitsco. The company invites educators to apply for this grant for their own classroom needs and encourages parents, colleagues, and friends of education to nominate the deserving educators in their lives.

Deadline Sept. 1        Toshiba America Foundation Science and Math Improvement Grants

The foundation seeks to improve the quality of U.S. science and mathematics education by investing in projects designed by classroom teachers. Teachers of grades 6–12 can request up to $5,000 to help bring an innovative project into their own classroom.
