2020 Climate Superstars Challenge
Register your class for this 10-day online environmental challenge, open to U.S. teachers of grades 6–8, and designed to get students excited about the environment and involved in collaboration. All tasks can be performed virtually or in-person, support Next Generation Science Standards and many common science themes, and require no additional materials. If your classroom completes at least 7 out of 10 tasks (short learning challenges), you'll have the chance to win a Samsung Flip 2 digital flip chart! (Deadline October 19)
The Coleopterists Society’s Youth Incentive Awards
This program recognizes young people who study beetles. Each of the two awards for student-proposed projects or activities (one for the Junior level, grades 7–9, and one for the Senior level, grades 10–12) is a monetary grant of $200 and $400; awardees also will receive up to $200 (Junior Award) and $400 (Senior Award) of equipment credit from BioQuip Products, Inc. Awardees also will receive a one-year subscription to the society’s journal, The Coleopterists Bulletin. (Deadline November 1)
Captain Planet Foundation Grants
The foundation funds STEM learning programs that empower youth to become local and global environmental change-makers. K–12 classroom and informal educators seeking support for students to design and implement hands-on environmental solutions are eligible. ecoSolution grants support youth-led solution-oriented projects. ecoTech grants support projects that use technology as part of an environmental solution. ecoSTEM kits are ready-to-go environmental Project-Based Learning activities in a box. (Deadline January 15, 2021)
