Archive: Next Generation Science Standards: A Decade of Invigorating Implementation, October 9, 2024

In the last decade since the publication of A Framework for K-12 Science Education (National Research Council, 2012) and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), 20 states and the District of Columbia have adopted the NGSS. Most other states have developed their own state standards based on the Framework document. The NGSS represents a new vision for K-12 science education and provides a clear statement of the competencies in science and engineering that all students should be able to demonstrate through their K-12 learning experience.
